24 year old guitarist/bassist looking for other musicians to form an Art Rock group together OR a suitable band to join. I want to do something different to the 'indie' bands/Fred Perry clones and faceless 'psych' bands, something mainly influenced by the past but out of the ordinary. Emphasis on 'art' and 'rock'; experimental, structured, heavy, soft, sprawling, concise, visual, simple, pretentious. Expertise and experience not really necessary, just enthusiasm, intellect and a will to stand out from the crowd. I have four years experience in gigging bands, and in professional recording studios. Although I haven't played in a gigging band in some time now, and unfortunately I don't have my own vehicle at the moment.
Influences include post punk (ie Killing Joke, Magazine, Simple Minds) art rock (ie Roxy Music, Modern Lovers, early Genesis, Jane's Addiction, Morphine) neo-psychedelia (Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes, Quicksilver Messenger Service, early REM), the Smiths, spaghetti western soundtracks, good ol 60s-70s rock, general vicious riffs (MC5, Budgie, Celtic Frost, Soundgarden) and the wilder side of rockabilly (Sun Records, Gun Club, Misfits). Also much more, hard rock, metal, prog, funk, punk, blues etc. I have a Soundcloud playlist of some home demos I've done of song ideas, without vocals. If you'd like to hear it, please get in touch, I have loads of ideas and I'd like to collaborate and play original, loud music. Looking for vocalists, bassists, guitarists, keyboardists.
I'd like to keep it generally within the parameters of the influences I've listed, I don't want to be in a Mastodon cover band or jam Blink 182 songs.
