The Eclectic
Looking for players/musician’s in South Cheshire, North Staffs/East Shropshire, (e.g. Keele, Crewe, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent, Stone, Sandbach, Markey Drayton) so its not difficult to travel or get people together for informal sessions – come on, I know you’re out there!
Dust off that Cello’s, get out the Guitars and pick up your percussion instruments (even if it’s the wooden spoons or Cajon!) to come along and play an eclectic mix of folk, traditional, classic acoustic, soft rock as well as our own songs. (Song writers very welcome). At the moment, I have lots of time on my hands!
This would very much suit acoustic guitarists/singers (especially for harmonising), Anyone from Cello/Double Bass players, Violinists, Mandolin/Ukulele players etc. to consecrate the mix. Infact, it’s for anyone wishing to develop/be a part of a nice informal but serious harmonic sound without any fuss, ego’s or complicated stage effects!
I play different guitars (though I also try my hand at the 6 string Banjo/Uke and Mandolin!) and am able to sing and provide song harmonies (alto plus or minus a few notes!). For us, we will welcome ‘the more instruments the better’, and everyone is welcome who can play their instrument on stage, at a pub or club or for festivals.
I have been playing at festivals, charitable events, local events, large restaurant venues etc.) and am still part of a duo who do the odd gig. However, we don’t play much ‘folky’, ‘bluegrass’, or other types of ‘traditional’ songs that I would like to perform along with like minded people, so this is also a chance for me to develop, personally. As a Duo, we do play songs from the Eagles, Beatles, Dylan, Clapton and a range of classy, classical Acoustic and ‘Bluesy’ numbers which seem o go down well with our (paying) audience (I accompany the rhythm/vocals with acoustic lead and provide vocals/harmonies too). No reason why this could not continue but really looking for a more progressive traditional style of music too. I have discussed this with my current playing partner in the Duo. My previous band (The Stone Camels) played out in the Middle East to different audiences and included a repertoire of Irish and Scottish folk songs and some Bluegrass too. I have the necessary equipment, if needed and we can discuss this over the phone.
So moving away from this long winded wordy advertisement (which I think helps people to differentiate between different ‘offers’ and make more informed decisions); if you would like to to take part/be part of a local ‘South Cheshire, North Staffs, East Shropshire’ band, please pick up the phone, don’t be shy or think its not for you, whether retired, part time, looking for meaning to life!!!!………call! 07714-236-969 or contact me by email lco@btinternet.com.
We can arrange to meet up or have a discussion about your musical instruments/interests but no personal or private information will be exchanged!
On a more serious note, this will suit people who are fairly confident with their musical instruments (even if they need a little ‘dusting off’ and your passion just re-ignited!). We will play, learn, develop at our own pace, and one which is convivial to the group (or team). Its not for time wasters or ego-bashers, just people who care about music and want to do something about it and play to similarly eclectic audiences.
