We're The Non-Commitments - just a bunch of nice people playing cool music with no particular agenda or aims except to have some fun. We formed in September 2016 over JMB with a rhythm section, two keyboardists, a part-time horn section and a fantastic singer. Unfortunately (for us) the fantastic singer has since left us for a paid singing job and the rest of us on the mic sound like a warthog with his bits trapped in a car door.
We're not aiming for record deals or highly paid gigs, just a regular get-together to play some tunes (we currently rehearse fortnightly on Sunday mornings/lunchtimes) and eventually play some shows to enthusiastic crowds. Singers of any age, gender, body shape, religion, political persuasion, shoe size welcome - as long as you've got a good sense of humour, a love for soulful music and a bit of patience while we try to figure out what key we're all supposed to be in, etc, you'll fit right in.
To give you a flavour, our current rehearsal set list includes:
Temptations - The Way You Do The Things You Do
Four Tops - I Can't Help Myself
Gloria Jones - Tainted Love
Al Green - Let's Stay Together
Sam Cooke - What a Wonderful World
Luther Vandross - Never Too Much
Isley Brothers- This Old Heart Of Mine
We're next rehearsing this Sunday (18th) before we break up for Christmas, so if you fancy joining us for a few songs, get in touch!
P.S. We're also looking for a rhythm guitarist, so if you can play, or know someone who does, then all the better.
