Hello, my name is Michael (23) and I am a guitarist/singer-songwriter, looking to find new bandmates in the London, Surrey, or Oxfordshire area, who would be interested in making some cool, spacey, dreamy music. I have found a potential lead guitarist and drummer/keyboard player, so I'm mainly still looking for a bass player, another drummer/keyboard player, someone who can do both lead and backing vocals (ideally female?), and maybe also a violinist. I have a wide music taste, so would love to blend multiple genres to create a unique and distinctive progressive/psychedelic/alternative/post-rock sound, with some metal, jazz, eastern/western classical, and electronic/trip-hop elements.
Some of my main influences include: Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, Anathema, Riverside, Pineapple Thief, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Bjork, Bowie, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Tame Impala, Sigur Ros, and Talk Talk. I have a bunch of songs floating around (with acoustic/electric guitar parts, vocal melodies, and lyrics), but they need fleshing out with layers to give a richer texture. The other two guys have also recorded lots of demos of their song ideas, though they are only instrumental at this stage. It would be great to have creative input from other passionate musicians in developing, recording, and performing these songs, as well as writing new songs together from scratch. We hope to produce an EP/LP.
I am not so much interested in technical ability (though it's a plus), as finding like-minded bandmates, who are chill but reliable and focused, with the right friendly dynamics. For me, the most important thing is for bandmates to be able to empathise with, support, and inspire each other, and to share a unified vision / artistic direction, where every member can bring something different to the whole sound...
I currently live in Godalming, Surrey, so it takes me about 45 minutes to travel into London, but I am willing to travel further into Oxfordshire, where the other potential band members are based. If you're interested in creating something beautiful and surreal, and live in London/Surrey/Oxfordshire area, please get in touch with a little bit about yourself (your instrument, favourite artists, other hobbies, etc.). Then, we can arrange to meet up in person somewhere, just for a chat initially, before organising a jam session!
