Available for session, stand-in, restaurant/cocktail piano, function events (individually or as a group member) and teaching. I regularly gig around the area - I have played at the Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent 6 times, aswell as playing The Sugarmill which has hosted bands such as Muse, Elbow and Coldplay.
I started off playing the Electronic Keyboard at the age of 6, studying with Robert Wemyss DipABRSM who taught me up to ABRSM Grade 8 standard and more recently studying Jazz with James Wilson-Rhead BMus. Aswell as contiuning with independent study, this combination of classical and jazz has helped my technique and my overall musicianship. I am of ABRSM Grade 8, Grade 8 LCME Popular Music Theory and Grade 6 ABRSM Classical Theory level. I have been offered a place to study BA Popular Music Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music for September 2013 and this is where my playing will be taken to the next level.
I am comfortable playing all styles. My work with many different function bands has enabled me to perform many different styles and realise the importance of having a mature and sophisticated stylistic awareness to the music that I am playing.
Aside from piano, I hold a ABRSM Grade 5 certificate in Electronic Keyboard which I recieved in 2010, so I am beyond this standard at this time. I am comfortable working with computer software - I currently use Ableton Live 8 on PC and various applications on my iPad which I use a Nord Electro 4D as a midi controller and use with apps such as Sample Tank and iRig MIDI. I use this aswell as microKORG and Roland AX-09 to create unique and original sounds aswell as sampling and multi-layering so I am more to a band than just playing a keyboard - I can offer realistic sounding string sections and crisp brass sections.
