2 great names for a band right there given what most venues seems to be advertising for lately -
All I need now (as I sing)is a guitarist , drummer , bassist and potentially (as a 5th member) rocking horse sh!t or as they are otherwise known a keyboard player.
I`m not looking for the best musicians in the world - just 4 or 5 committed, light hearted people (ok we are all extroverts otherwise we wouldn't be doing this) who fancy doing something a bit different...
Age not really important although if (1) you cant gig on a Sunday because of school the next day or (2) you cant be out later than 19:30 without risking falling a sleep in an arm chair then.... well, you get my point
If you want to just rock up , play and take your money then I`m sure you ll find a band somewhere however I`m looking for people who as well as the above, also have the commitment, contacts and drive to equally promote the band and get gigs.
Yes I do like the stereo phonics, the killers and even kings of Leon but, we don't have to play the few songs that I`m sure spring to mind as soon as those names are mentioned.
I know punters like sweet child of mine, sex on fire , Dakota , sweet home ABERAVON but there are hundreds of equally great songs which many people don't do, Mainly because they take time to learn and although I don't want to be rehearsing 3 times a week for the next 12 months I`m am prepared to put in a little extra effort to try and make something new work. The next 5 or 6 weeks are really about finding the right people, choosing the right songs and having a knock with Christmas around the corner and a few other commitment already in the pipeline reality is I'm looking to get things going early in the new year but want to get the wheels in motion now !
As for song choices, well mine are probably are a little strange for a cover band looking to play local pubs and clubs and I would say are probably more pop in a rocked up kinda way than your classic rock songs Stuff I know people will enjoy even if at first they don't really who the original was by.
Living in Swansea, this would ideally suit someone local in terms of rehearsals however, if travel is not an issue then fire away. I see loads of post for people setting up "corporate/function" type bands and while this is probably the way forward and most local bands "dream" ,I'm not adverse to playing pubs , clubs , carnival , charity do s , bar mitzvah s , care homes , prison s you name it , ill try it to get us up and running.
It wont be easy as a new band, it never is but even more so now with limited venues so I`m looking for people that are committed to the long game, if you expect to rehearse twice then get in undated with gigs and be out 6 times a week from the off the reality is, this aint Gonna happen so please only get in touch if your happy to ride it out initially, it will pay off in the end.
Ps, if this doesn't get off the ground or falls at the first hurdle,.... Any one wanna buy a top quality PA get ion touch as I will be hanging up my gloves, selling up and taking up residency as a bingo caller at a local working mans club , potential even becoming a red coat although I think at 38 I`m a little past that now !!!!!!!!
SO LETS DO IT !
