My name is Martin Dench (51 year old old fart and guitarist) and I was formerly in a local band called Slow Dazzle. I've now moved on to what I can only describe as 'post-doom-stoner-metal' with a band called 'Temple Of The Slum'. At the moment the band is just me, although I have recorded a whole album plus some more recent tracks at home. The album is now available to buy or for digital download. The music is not high tech at this point, but I think the songs are good and definitely workable and flexible.
I'm looking for another guitarist (who can maybe sing/yell), a bassist (who can maybe sing/yell) and a drummer. I see my role as main guitarist, and possibly singer (not too sure about my ability here), but I also love the presence of 'sound textures' and am planning to use my MicroKorg (both live and in the studio).
The aim of the band is to rehearse, play live, record (either at home or in a studio, where possible), and to gain a decent reputation and maybe grab a recording deal. I'm already circulating the CD to some selected labels around the world on the offchance.
Obviously I have a vision of where I see the music going, but I want to work with like-minded people who can share the journey and vision and help take us somewhere much better than my single-minded vision.
And if it came to it I would also be happy to play bass, if we had two great guitarists offering themselves up:-)
As a rough guide the bands that I think most influence me at this time are: Neurosis, Ufomammut, Seventh Void, Old Man Gloom, Isis, Cult Of Luna, Monster Magnet, Amenra, Nine Inch Nails, Seigmen, Zeromancer and A Storm Of Light. Obviously there are many more, but these strike as the most relevant:-)
I'd love to hear from anyone who would be interested - there's a future here, we just have to make it work before I get my bus pass....
