I am massive fan of Jeff Beck. The first album of his I got was "Rough and Ready" when I was 18, by which time I had been playing guitar for 4 years and was mesmerised. My sister bought me "Guitar Shop" for my 21st Birthday. By then in was in bands and playing all hours. Now .. much later .. with 40 years guitar playing under my belt, and hundreds of hours spent listening to his work, I am just as much a fan. I can't be the only one, he has 6 grammy awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.
In the meantime I have been in bands, appeared on a a few (small time) albums, played on a song in the charts etc. Mind you, I didn't imitate Jeff Beck in all that, I was just me. I you want to hear me playing (an original instrumental piece, however I am not imitating Jeff Beck), give this a listen: https://soundcloud.com/george-williams-8/jabba-the-hutt
As far as I can tell there hasn't ever been a Jeff Beck tribute act in the UK. There are a couple in the USA, of varying quality.
An urge has been building for a while to see if there are folk there who are interested in taking part in a Jeff Beck tribute band. He played with some amazing players over the years, such as: Bobby Tench, Cozy Powell, Max Middleton, Tal Wilkenfeld, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jason Rebello, Aynsley Dunbar, Jan Hammer. So, I am hopeful I can find bass, drums and keys players who are big fans of his music, and have the chops to give it a go. Currently I am not minded to do tracks with vocals on as that is just a small proportion of his output, but my feeling on that might change over time.
If you are out there please get in touch!
Update: I haven't had any keyboard players reply yet, where is Jan Hammer or Max Middleton? don't be shy!
