I've spent many years writing songs for myself but more recently I've been looking to transition into more of a songwriter for others. Because I'm relatively new at doing this, I'm willing to write you a song for free. So what does this entail?
1. You'd need to send me examples of your work. No disrespect but I want to build up a portfolio of great songs (working with great singers) so I need to be collaborating with people who have recorded songs before, to a certain standard [no clips of you recorded singing into an iPhone etc.]
2. We'd need to discuss over email the type of music you like and the type of song you'd be interested in me writing. (I'm not here to copy someone else but it helps me to understand your vibe/style.)
3. I would write the song. This usually involves me creating the instrumental, writing the lyrics and melody and laying down a very basic vocal guide. (If you want to be involved in the lyrics that's fine but this should be discussed up front rather than later down the line, so we are both on the same page.)
4. You need to be able to record your own vocals. (Either at home or a studio but I cannot offer to record vocals for you. You would need to record these yourself and then send me back the WAV stems to mix into the track).
Once the track was finished, both you and I would have the rights to use the track as we saw fit - myself as part of my songwriting portfolio and you to help promote yourself as a singer.
I am not based in London, I'm based in Wales and due to current restrictions meeting in person is not possible. So let's discuss over email in the first instance. I'm happy to work with anyone but do have a preference for female vocalists.
As per the ad, I write mostly pop music. I can send you examples of my work during our initial discussion.
*please don't be rude* - appreciate this is not my full-time job and that I am offering to do this for free, when there are plenty of people out there who would charge.
Look forward to hearing from you
