Myself and two friends are looking to form a Heavy Metal band in the Belfast area. We're all 19-21 and are looking for like-minded musicians aged between 17-24, I (Adam) would be the bassist, my friend (Steve) would be the lead guitarist and our other friend Eddie would be the vocalist. Here's some background information about us:
Adam:
Plays bass (4 years) and guitar (5 years). Influences include: Thin Lizzy, Lamb Of God, Pantera, Death, Immortal, Black Sabbath, Cliff Burton and Machine Head.
Guitars: ESP LTD F5E, Fender Jazz Bass, BC Rich Mockingbird ST, Dean ML79F, and a Cort electro-acoustic.
Equipment: BOSS ME50B multifx pedal board, BOSS PW10 Wah Pedal, Line6 Bass Pod XT, and an Ashdown ABM evo III 500 head on an ABM 410h cab.
If you want to email me directly instead of through this website you can send me a message on Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/adam.mcareavy], I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding my skill/influences/whatever.
Steve:
Plays guitar (5 years): Influences include: Trivium, Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying, Lamb Of God, Devildriver, Insomnium, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, All That Remains.
Guitars: Dean Razorback 7 Dimebag, Schecter Omen Extreme and Jackson Demmeltion PDX
Equipment: Line6 Spider 3 150 watt amp, Crybaby wah pedal, BOSS metalcore pedal.
Eddie:
Vocalist (3 years): Influences include: Sepultura, Metallica, Soulfly, Superjoint Ritual, Crowbar, Pantera, Down, Nailbomb, Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer.
Musical likes/dislikes:
Dislikes: Emocore bands (BMTH, AA, etc), inaudible bass and drum lines, bands who sell out and ignore their fans, unintelligible lyrics and band members looking for an easy ride by exploiting the efforts of other members (we've had to kick out 2 other previous members for that so it won't be tolerated).
Likes: Democracy in decision making, dedication to the band, kickass, no holds barred Heavy Metal that sends shivers down your spine, melodic breakdowns (including acoustic and clean guitar tracks), and band members who aren't afraid to go out for a drink.
We aren't really sure what specific genre of Metal band we want to be (hence "Heavy Metal drummer wanted") however, it will most likely sway towards Melodic Death Metal with elements of Groove and as we will be experimenting with 7 string guitars and 5 string basses, drop tunings will be a definite. Ultimately YOUR influences will have a great impact on the genre we eventually end up in so perhaps we could start our own genre? Who knows? We are not looking for posers, "-core" genre fanboys (or fangirls) and we do not dress "metal" as we will let our music do the talking. So if you think this is a project you might be interested in, feel free to contact me whenever you want and we can arrange a jam session whenever suits. We have a jamming studio all lined up (it comes to about £20 for 3 hours of uninterrupted practice time, that's £20 overall, not each) and we can have it booked within 1-2 weeks. We are both able to write music and currently have plenty of riffs/lyrics floating about (enough to be fine tuned for at least one album), we would like to record music and eventually tour (we both have dreams of touring Scandinavia, South America, and East Asia) and already have a few established links for promotion.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, the fact that you are on this website suggests that you are committed to the idea of forming a band and are exactly the type of person we are looking for. Again, we'd be happy to answer any of your questions about anything or if you want to meet up in town just to see if we are compatible personality-wise we would be more than happy to go for a drink sometime and I look forward to hearing from as many people as possible!
