Urban Myth are still looking for a new full time drummer.
We enjoy playing great (we think) songs, from artists including Buddy Hollie, Oasis, Eddie Cochran, Pulp, Jeff Beck, the Vapours, Steve Harley, The Clash, The Beatles, The Kaiser Chiefs, Elvis Costello, the Killers and many more. (Did I mention Hazel O’Connor?)
As you can tell, we’re not really genre specific, but we aim for the songs that get a good reaction. From the finger tapping “I remember this one” songs in the first set, to the drunk dad dancing classics in the second set. (Madness-One step beyond for example)
We have over 50 songs in the list and are always trying to find more that work.
We won’t pretend that we’re the best cover band in the history of cover bands, but we do try and be the best we can be. We’re looking for a solid drummer with a similar attitude, you don’t need to be awesome (although that would be … awesome)
What we need.
A drummer who’s able to learn the songs quickly (we’ve got a handful of gigs on the calendar and it would be great to get both guitars up front again).
A drummer who can remember the starts and stops and knows how to bring the band together for the end of the song.
A drummer who can fit in and have a laugh, but who’s also willing to put the work in between practices to improve the core list and to learn any new songs.
We’re currently muddling through as a five piece, as two of us also play drums, but would be great to find the right drummer and get back to a full line up. Bass, two guitars keys and sax
Age not as important as attitude, but we’re in the mid-40s to mid (mid to late) 50s bracket. We don't gig every weekend, maybe once or twice a month as a goal, but do try and get together most weeks for a practice. We sometimes play for free, for charity, for self-promotion, or just for the fun of it. Just wanted to point that out, as making money isn’t our motivation. As long we’re at least breaking even.
If you’re interested, have a look at our FB page, there are a few demos on there as well, and please get in touch if this floats your boat.
