I run a 6 piece folk rock band in Bristol, The Fridge Mechanics. The band showcases my songs and we are looking for a harmony/lead female singer/keyboard player. I write songs in the Paul Simon, Richard Thompson style, which are wide open to harmonies and plenty of the songs have the opportunity for solo verses.
We are a friendly bunch, quite seasoned and experienced musicians. All of us work and/or have families, so we are not aiming at the stars! We usually do 7 or 8 gigs a year, usually festivals and clubs. We had quite a lot lined up for this year which got cancelled due to the virus, but most of them will happen in 2021, which we are looking forward to.
When we are able, we rehearse monthly, usually on a Friday evening, sometimes Sunday afternoons. If there are new songs to learn and create harmonies for, we arrange extra sessions when we can.
This seems a really strange time to be trying to do this as it is unlikely we can gig for a while yet, but I thought I would reach out and see if you might be interested? At the moment, we are managing to squeeze in some socially distanced rehearsals in a big community hall with PPE etc. Otherwise, all the band are exchanging MP3's of the songs and suggested harmonies/parts. Not ideal, but it keeps things going!
We have provisionally booked a village hall for Dec 6th for a very covid safe concert, our band and some other performers, with a small but select audience. Fingers cross conditions don't change!
Have a listen to our songs; www.barry-lane-songwriter.org.uk. It's important you really like them and feel a connection with the music.
If you are interested, it would be good to have a listen to you singing/playing. Do you have a recording of yourself singing at all?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
