Hi folks,
I put out an ad in early november. And have a few enthusiastic responses. I am going to put out the same information again once or twice and try to pull something together for January starting.....
I'm looking for people interested in experimenting with sounds. It could be a band, but i imagine more an experimental atelier for creativity, meeting regularly. I can provide the venue. I play guitar and bass ... a bit... I have always enjoyed rock, folk, ambient musics, ... I'm a psychologist/psychotherapist with interest in the mind and sound. Maybe healing aspects, maybe finding expression of our spirit, maybe just having a load of fun with sound waves.
As you can see i have no idea what I'm looking for... just thought if I write a load of stuff it will put some people off and some people might feel inspired to make contact. I thought i'd gather some interested parties and then invite for a meetup.
At the moment I do alot of singing with parents and infants. I love the way babies and young children respond to music. I'm also interested in how children and people who are 'special' (as my daughter says I am.. i.e. 'special needs') interact and respond and create...
I'm interested in sounds in nature too. I've been messing around with Solfeggio tones but not sure really about them... but i do love chanting sounds....
I am not greatly gifted with time.. but maybe an atelier might lead to connections within connections... some might go off together to do 'serious' stuff,, and others might stay and play or just enjoy exploring possibilities together.
I have been inspired by taking things which trouble and disturb you in life and transforming them within music/sound. As you can see there is a bit of a psychological/spiritual slant.
I'm also coming up to 50. Still feel 18 ish in many ways (those were my rock days), but if age matters to you in particular ways then you should know that.
My vision is for a monthly friday evening Atelier at my place. Let me know your interest. If you can say some things about what inspires you and where your creative juices lie that would be great. Also what kind of musical instruments you play. I'm by no means concerned with your being a 'good musician'. In some ways that can be a hindrance. Just the passion and love for music and creativity would be great....
