Experienced and serious singer, three octave range - strong head voice (falsetto) and tenor/baritone. Accomplished lyricist.
I need another musician(s) to work with me to arrange/interpret my songs and move towards starting a band. I'm 39. I would ideally like to be doing something along the lines of a Richard Hawley / Velvet Underground hybrid. Classic pop structures. Like Thom Yorke singing Scott Walker songs in a David Lynch movie.
I have a number of songs written and some arranged with chords, but I am not a guitarist and will need you to be good at picking up and arranging to my vocal melodies. You need to be willing to mess with time signatures and avoid the ordinary chords. While I have plenty of material to start us off I would really enjoy collaborating with someone and it might end up going in different directions to the one I have just vaguely described.
This is my third stab at finding someone through JMB. I am currently working with another guitarist. He will be moving on shortly as he wants to change direction, but he would be willing to collaborate to hand over some of the music we have been working on. I have also been selected to compete in the Eastern region Undiscovered competition (see here http://www.undiscovered.org.uk/) so I need some back up urgently, otherwise I cannot participate.
You can hear some of my old band's material here: http://www.reverbnation.com/tracysface
It's a bit old now and not always well recorded, but at least you'll get an idea of my singing and writing style, although my voice has matured a little since then. While it makes sense to start small I would really like to form a full band, record and gig as soon as possible.
Ideally you will be aged between 30 and 45 and live in the Chelmsford area, but that's not a hard and fast rule, I drive.
Influences:
Radiohead, Beach Boys, David Bowie, Sparklehorse, Flaming Lips, Beatles, Velvet Underground, Verve, Fleet Foxes...
Drop me a line,
Richard
