A Call To Instruments !
Looking for Manchester / Salford based musicians who can commit to meeting up at least twice a month to write and practice and play regular gigs. I have good media / venue / band contacts and can quickly get us gigs and radio play etc.
Thinking simple, catchy, fresh, entertaining songs that will engage a crowd and work well live. With wit and humour and surrealism...
Stuff like Os Mutantes, The Fall, The Pixies, The Breeders, Julian Cope, Love, Gogol Bordello, Gong, Can, B52s, Talking Heads, Lovely Eggs, Violent Femmes, Moldy Peaches and very many more...
What I can do - I'm a songwriter who has had press and radio acclaim for previous projects and a lot of live experience. I also play bass and I'm an energetic frontman. I can also produce, play synth etc. I love to collaborate and am always very flexible and open minded. I'm no kind of virtuoso at all in a live context but I make what I’ve got work. All skill levels welcome as long as you have your own kit, have enough time to do the band and live locally enough to make regular practices, and are already comfortable enough to get onstage and play some chords, keep a beat or do a vocal. And that you are ready to rock, of course !
What I'm looking for - Female vocalist (ideally would like the project to have both female / male vocals), guitarist, drummer, keyboard, anything else that you think might be of interest, or if you think you are a kindred spirit, get in touch !
It's especially nice to work with sociable people with a positive, DIY / can do attitude. People who are genuine, really enjoy creating and who are passionate to do something exciting onstage NOW. I enjoy writing and working quickly too, so would rather jam out and record some simple songs together in the first few practices then go out and start playing small gigs with them. Working bands evolve much quicker ! People who also enjoy the social side of the music scene, going to gigs, out for drinks, networking etc, especially welcome.
Age, gender, nationality, etc is completely unimportant, I’m 40 and have tons of energy and music industry experience I can bring to the table that can take us to exciting places. I would enjoy collaborating with anyone interested in creating a fresh and exciting live act. Get in touch if this sounds like YOU...Everything Is Possible !
