Experienced drummer, early fifties, very honest, (well I think 55 is still early-fifties!), looking for a Covers band based somewhere within an hours drive of Dartford. This can be in Kent or South East London and I also have no fear of crossing the Thames into the badlands of Essex and was in a Harlow-based band for a few years earlier this century. I'm happy to play gigs anywhere in Kent. Essex, London or beyond.
My Ideal Band - would be playing Soul, Funk, Pop, Disco, Lighter Rock or Reggae covers from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or newer, playing anywhere between 6 and 24 gigs a year, playing to a reasonable standard, but also having some fun.
Just so I don't waste your time, I'm not looking for the following - Originals, Punk, Metal, Heavy Rock, Peruvian Panpipe Music or playing more than 2 gigs per month.
A little about me - I played in my first band at 12, had a break in my 20s and then played pretty solidly for 20+ years from age 30 in various pub and function bands in Kent and Essex, (as a hobby though, never tried to make drumming a profession) Have taken a recent break for 2 or 3 years but itching to play again now and hoping that there are still possibilities for those of us who might be slightly greyer at the temple, (that is, if my temples cover my whole head - never been too good at anatomy ! )
I am not a particularly loud drummer, (although I can make more of an effort on that front on request), try to play sympathetically to the music, (hopefully none of my previous band mates would remove the "sym" prefix when describing my playing), I’m not prone to turning fills into 4-bar solos etc. and can, at least in my opinion, play in time.
I have professional gear and do clean my cymbals, in case that is important to you.
I still work full-time but happy to rehearse regularly and would be committed to one band as I'm not looking to gig every week, as stated above. I'm also not in this for the money, happy to play charity gigs, but won't say no to paid gigs also as it allows me to buy more gear!
Please get in touch if I can help with your drumming vacancy, or if you would like more info, although I've probably bored most of you enough already with my life story.
Luckily my New Years Resolution in 2018 was to be more concise !
Oh, and I'm also happy to add backing vocals if required, probably not always harmoniously, but usually in tune.
Cheers
