We're looking for 2 musicians to complete monstrous electro afro-dance band Djembeklan.
http://djembeklan.com/
1. Drummer or bassist (drummer preferred)
2. Synth player
- Drum styles include drum n bass, dubstep, house and trance rhythms, alongside choreographed fills. We're not looking for someone who plays everything at once; instead we need someone who can hold back and keep a tight rhythm as we perform with 3 different African drums layered on top of the traditional kit. As the band is comprised mostly of drums, someone with a good sense of command and control would be preferred. Must be able to play to a click track, as this may be necessary for some gigs. You can see the style from the videos on the website.
- Live synth is mostly very simple in this band. At times it is melodic, at times ambient, and sometimes you get to lay on a fair bit of filth. Some trippy effects would be nice. Primarily the band needs to create a sort of trance atmosphere - it's not Herbie Hancock. Again, you can see the style from videos on the website.
- If bass is your thing then influences such as dub, dnb, afrobeat and electronic trance would be preferred. As with the drums and synth, the trancey nature of this band would require a lot of holding back. Nothing too complicated, but strong, solid and heavy. We need a bassist with a good amount of pump to give the band the push it needs.
We've been messed around by flaky members in the past and we can't afford to have anyone mess us about anymore, so no time-wasters, please. If you think you can commit, we have been offered gigs in prestigious clubs in London as well as festivals such as Secret Garden Party and Freekuency Festival in Portugal, among others. We expect to be quite busy during the summer festival season and want to be up and running as soon as possible.
