Crazy singer (female) and guitarist (either/any gender!) of any age wanted for crazy punk covers band based in Bristol.
Drummer and bassist, 40ish, putting together band to get gigging asap post-Covid on pub scene then doing venues/functions/weddings etc, also asap. We both have loads of experience and are looking for people who are very creative, open minded and musically confident/comfortable on stage.
Vox: Presence, charisma and super-confident in self/with a crowd much more important that being a 'perfect' singer- think Bikini Kill, Hole, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Slits, X Ray Spex etc. Need to love being focal point of band, putting on a show, dressing up etc. Ability to play guitar an advantage but by no means essential.
Guitar: Must be v.good and know what you're playing. Looking for someone who certainly can solo like an MF if they want to but is more interested in not showing off, making a crapload of dirty noise, playing simple chords when they need to and also making a totally crazy noise-racket when required. Think Pixies, Nirvana, Pistols, Steve Albini etc.
Both. Must be willing to look the part and occasionally dress up, be in a band that does a good a show, be very comfortable improvising, actively embrace mistakes, play on the edge and not bat an eyelid when things go wrong (due to underlying ability... As in if you don't know what key you're in and chord you're on you'll be buggered, thanks and all the best, but no thanks)
We will be doing punkesque covers of mega-well known female-led songs... Absolutely no obscure B sides, slow songs or self-indulgence. We want people up on their feet and dancing to tunes they know from the off... Just played in a way they aren't used to. Set includes punked up versions of Kylie, Abba, Dolly Parton, The Marvelettes/Ronettes, Beyonce, Salt n' Pepper, Bangles, Taylor Swift, Britney, Madonna, Tones and I, Tina Turner etc.
Please get in touch if you'd like a chat to know a bit more or go straight for an audition.
Cheers,
Lee
