Hello, first of all this is a genuine ad.
I am a Grammy winning record producer and run a world class studio in the Midlands. I have produced many big names and bands I'm sure most people will have heard of and I am extremely connected to various major record companies and have strong relationships with many Industry Execs and music heavyweights.
An interesting situation has arisen and could potentially prove to be a fantastic opportunity for someone.
I have been working with a talented songwriter and we have some tracks down. The problem is that the songwriter doesn't sing and in my opinion these songs are of a level to potentially be pretty big. They are certainly in major label territory at the least.
There is no point just sticking an average or 'good-enough' voice on these tracks. We have tried a couple of people already and it quickly became apparent the tracks are too good for the voice. They need a GREAT voice on them or else they just won't be as good as they deserve to be and frankly it will be a wasted opportunity.
So we are looking for an exceptional rock vocalist and preferably one that plays guitar. Although your guitar may not be needed on the rest of this record, then in future it would be and if things were to kick off then the songwriter would prefer a singer/guitarist for any potential live dates or showcases.
Although it's not a definite no to females applying, then how we hear it is with a male voice really. But anyone exceptional we are willing to take into consideration. It's more important that the voice suits the music. This also applies to age, your ability is more important that how old you are, although for reference the songwriter is in his mid 30's. A decent image would be ideal though, but not metal or too old-school classic rock please.
The songs are very commercial and radio friendly, but are essentially rock songs and so have distortion, riffs and big melodies. If pushed then along the lines of Muse, Foo Fighters, Killers, Kings Of Leon, Feeder, Shinedown, Stereophonics or a slightly heavier Snow Patrol.
If you have a voice that would suit those kind of bands then we'd be very interested to hear from you. I want to make something clear though, this is NOT metal and we have no interest in that kind of voice. We want beauty, fragility, gravel and essentially the ability to sing with both chest and head voices. There's a good few harmonies, falsetto's and ooo's as well as the heavier rock tones in the songs.
The project is proceeding on an ad-hoc basis currently to fit around our other commitments and so there is no real time pressure, although it would be nice to have a single out for Record Store Day in April. If you are in another band at the moment then that is fine also but all we would say is if down the line things do move as we are hoping, then your commitment would lie with this. We do not want to be looking for someone else again later on. For now then all we need from you is probably 3 days in total. Therefore you can be based anywhere as long as you were willing to travel to the Midlands for the sessions, but in an ideal world you would be Midlands based.
If you think this sounds like you then please reply via here (for now) including some information about yourself i.e. your name, age, location, experience, guitar ability, any Instagram/Twitter/Facebook link and *essential* links to tracks with your voice on (and guitar if possible).
Thank you.
