Hello
and thanks for stopping by.
I am a 38 year old bassist living in Northampton looking to get back to playing after having on hiatus for several years (kids n stuff)
I have my own kit and transport. I have played a fair few gigs "back in the day" and like to take an active role in promoting the band I am in. I play 5 and 4 string bass. not the greatest vocalist but can add some backing grrs and stuff. I am creative and prefer to do my own bass lines if in an original band. I also play kazoo.
I like angry heavy music from a wide range of stuff - the usual suspects like Sepultura, Slayer, Biohazard, Pantera, RATM, Korn, Slipknot plus a wide array of influences from all over the place from Beastie Boys to Incubus, to Texas Hippie Coalition to Deicide to Reel Big Fish to Cradle of filth and the list goes on...
would like to be part of either an original band making something heavy and new. raw and brutal and angry that makes you want to spontaneously want to work out
or
creating a covers band aimed at mid thirties up - so 90s n beyond (a few older tracks thrown in for posterity)
my argument is this....
I go to rock and metal clubs its tends to be aimed more at younger adults - not that there is anything wrong with it some of it is quite good - however I don't know half the songs (yeah yeah, I know I sound old) so i leave feeling slightly unsatisfied with my night
I go to a covers band gig at a pub its usually a medley of whiskey in a jar, whole lotta rosie etc plus a green day or foo fighters song thrown in for good measure - again nothing wrong with that if thats your bag - again I leave feeling slightly unsatified with my night
surely I'm not the only one feeling like this. Id love to do a covers band with songs that make the audience say "wow, I havent heard this song in ages - I remember this song! - etc" for an example - Grey Flap by Pist.On
If you have made it down this far, I'm not going to take up any more of your time
If you're interested and want to chat more, please drop me a message
