Hey there, my names Gav i'm 22 and i'm looking to start a project which is gonna be a mash up of Heavy Metal and Dance/Club tunes. I'm aware that bands have done the whole electro/metal crossover before but its always been done as metal or hardcore with synths or keys behind it such as Enter Shikari which i'm not aiming for, i'm wanting to reverse to mash up, think classic dance tunes but with electric guitars playing the chords and melodies. I'm not planning on just guitars and a backing track or DJ though, i want to create a full band experience, live drums, bass, vocals, the whole works. Obviously including synths as well.
I got the idea on a night out in a club when i saw the hype and energy that flows through people when in a club environment, the pounding bass, the ultra catchy melodies, everything works. Then i thought about metal concerts and how much energy crowds have at those. I've played quite a few live metal shows myself and have attended probably quadruple that as a member of an audience (also a handfull of festivals) and have seen how much fun crowds have when they're just having an all out good time. So imagine combining the two, having the energy and hype of club dance tunes but with the excitement and show of a live metal band.
Now then, i myself play guitar, bass and drums to a satisfactory level, i also play a small amount of keyboards and i'm not the worst singer for rock and metal. But i'm looking for anyone out there who is up for this idea, be they guitarists, drummers, absolutely anything. Playing level doesn't need to be world class but i'm not really looking for beginners, don't hesitate to reply to this ad though, you never know you might be perfect for what i'm after. The people i REALLY need to find are synth/keys players, as they'll be the main front of the band.
At the moment i have a few ideas knocking around for songs but nothing set in stone yet, so until i or we get some material written and recorded, covers are going to be the best way to get the ball rolling, plus its a great way to get used to playing alongside new musicians.
I've rambled on enough for now, so if anyone is interested or curious about anything here or if you have any questions what so ever, please just ask, i'll be happy to reply as soon as i can. Hope to hear soon : )
