Hello,
I'm looking for any musicians, but in particular multi instrumentalists with some drumming ability, and vocalists. Also anyone with recording experience. Amateurs would be best, but (sorry) no complete beginners. Professionals/virtuosos are welcome but you may be frustrated, and there's (as good as certainly) not going to be commercial success. The main criteria is to have fun.
I am a middle aged male multi instrumentalist songwriter with a dedicated music room (amateur studio) and plenty of kit that requires more use. I have been working with a couple of lads for a year or so; when we meet up we spend 20 mins chatting, then 20 mins jamming, an hour discussing / arranging songs, an hour recording a few instruments and vocals, get tired of serious stuff (it's an age thing), and thrash out some proper noise for 40 minutes. It's great fun but only happens every few weeks, consequently progress with recording is slow, however I have two dozen (very) rough demos, and another dozen lyrics on the ipad (plus a load more 'lost' on broken computers, if there's someone out there with the relevant skills to recover them?). At the rate we're working the vast majority won't get anywhere near finished.
As I'm retired I have time to start a mid week project in addition to the current band. I'm looking for 2/3 musicians for sessions similar to the ones previously described. Please be aware that I have no desire to play gigs. I'm into most genres, except hip hop/ thrash, and like to fuse different styles, but particularly indie rock/pop. Due to the size of the room any more that 4 of us would be very difficult, a trio is ideal. I have drums, amps guitars, piano, synths, bass, woodwind and brass, so there is no need for you to bring too much kit with you (the other band don't bring anything!). I'm a reasonable standard on guitar and piano, but 'inexperienced' with the rest. Recording is a process I'm beginning to learn, but at the moment rely on the basics.
Any song writers are more than welcome to bring along there own compositions for the group.
I have decided on Wed evenings, but any evening would be possible if all members agree, I need to keep weekends free for the other project and family. Any one who wants to come over for a chat/jam to see if its for you feel welcome, there's no need to commit to anything at this stage.
Cheers
Gerard
