Looking to put together an 80s band based around pop/synth records of the time. Playing songs that are not normally played by cover bands.
Some of the songs will include;
Everybody Wants to Rule the World – Tears for Fears
B.A.D - E=mc˛
The Stranglers – Skin Deep
It’s my Life – Talk Talk
To Cut a Long Story Short – Spandau Ballet
I’ve put some clips on YouTube of myself playing along:
New video since my last ad is;
I Ran - Flock of Seagulls
https://youtu.be/nodk0ne2qoM
Previously posted videos;
Break my Stride - Matthew Wilder

Feels Like Heaven – Fiction Factory

I have these mostly finished, a few need a bit more work getting sounds correct etc.
Getting the sound right is important, a lot of bands do lazy versions. Would like to get the songs to sound close to the originals, and recreate that 80s feel.
I play keyboards, and have just got a 2 Roland keyboard set up complete and in the process of learning some songs. I have played bass in the past and think I can get away with playing keys in a band now!
Looking for;
Singer/Singers
Would definitely need a male singer but many other songs could be bought in with a female singer too
Guitar
Effects will be needed to recreate the songs. Ability to play extra keys on certain songs could be an option
Currently have a drummer and bass player that are very much interested, and possibly a guitarist too.
Picking songs that can be played well with a one keyboard player set up for now.
I’m in my late 40s and remember the songs from my childhood. Looking to gig around twice a month, maybe a little more in the summer. As things are at the moment, this is the perfect time to get things going. There’s 2 very good studios here in Lowestoft, but rehearsals to be where it suits the majority of the band.
There’s loads of 80s gems out there waiting to be bought back to life.
